Running a dairy farm comes with high energy demands – from milking and feeding cows to keeping milk chilled.

Director Nathan Smith wanted a practical way to manage these costs. Working with AusPro Group Pty Ltd, he installed a 20 kWh battery system to store energy when it was cheaper or more abundant and use it during peak demand.

By leveraging the federal battery rebate launched in June 2025 and choosing a $0 upfront Smart Ease Payment Plan, Nathan reduced upfront costs and protected the farm’s cash flow while lowering electricity spend.

This project shows how agricultural businesses can use energy storage to cut costs, improve efficiency and build greater energy resilience.
