The Bean Cartel is a specialty coffee roaster based in Notting Hill, Victoria. Competing in Melbourne’s highly saturated coffee scene means The Bean Cartel team has had to carve out their own unique positioning in the market. Over the years that has involved a rebrand, website overhaul and a collaboration with a renowned Colombian artist on a signature look and feel.
Last year, to align more closely with their values of community and sustainability, The Bean Cartel decided it was time to reduce their carbon footprint.
They engaged Cyanergy to scope out their roasting site and recommend a suitable solution that would help cut emissions as well as help reduce their energy bills.
Upon assessing The Bean Cartel’s roof and energy usage, as well as considering their business needs, the Cyanergy team suggested installing a 15kW solar system using a Smart Ease Payment Plan.

The solar system, comprised of 41 JA Solar panels and a Sungrow inverter, was installed in May 2024.

Generating 22.904MWh per year, the system now offsets the equivalent of 20 households’ worth of annual energy consumption. As a fantastic added bonus, The Bean Cartel’s monthly energy bills are down by more than 50%.
